Our theme this week is CRITTER CAMP. We will study all kinds of critters including frogs, lightning bugs, crickets, worms, ants, bees, spiders and much more! Campers will freely explore various critters in the tall grass at the sensory table as well as peruse a real "critter collection" in the science area. We have live ants this year at camp and the kids will have the opportunity to see and learn about the intricacies of ant cooperation and communication. We will read lots of critter books, collect and study critters at the playground, create critter sounds and movements during circle time, eat critter snacks and sing critter songs. Ms. Rieger has many fun art projects planned that will enhance the kids' "critter knowledge." We know your child will have a great time this week!
The Camp will provide snack each day. Please make sure your child has a packed lunch with him/her each day. Drinks will be supplied by the camp - no need to pack drinks in your child's lunch.
Please bring your child up to the classroom in the mornings. If you arrive later than 9:15, please note that we will be down at the playground. Please bring your child to the playground if the class is not in the classroom. We will bring your children out to the Greystone lawn at 1:00 p.m. each day for pick up. You may want to have your child come to camp with sunscreen and bug repellant on each day (the mosquitoes have been really bad!). Have your child dress in cool and comfortable clothes and shoes - no flip-flops please!
I would highly recommend Camp Little Red. We just finished our third summer there and my children have been exposed to so many wonderful things. Camp Little Red taught my children through mixed methods such as music, art, stories and creative play - all while they were having fun! My six-year-old daughter knows about the aquatic food chain, how many days it takes to reach the moon, and why she likes the art of Claude Monet "better" than that of Vincent Van Gogh! I believe Camp Little Red would be a great experience for any child.
